Tohono O'odham, Native American Basket

Most likely from the 1970s or earlier, this basket nonetheless retains much of it's original color and has not faded. Without any flaws or damage, no stains or discoloration, it is in very nice collectable condition. The original hang tag is included, and although it is slightly damaged, it still retains interesting information. The tag describes the basket as being "Papago" in origin. At that time, most people knew of Native Americans from the Tohono O'odham Nation as Papagos. The term is Spanish in origin and is somewhat derogatory.

The basket has been woven using materials traditional to the Tohono O'odham, gathered from the Sonoran Desert, including Beargrass and Sotol Agave fibers.
